Oh my god i hate the people at Guitar Center.

Ok i broke some strings on my Jem. and i wanted to go and change the strings. so i walked to guitar center. i asked for an opinion of which strings to buy. i wanted to try something new because my old strings were sorta loose. so i thouhgt that getting 10s instead of 9s would help. so i asked the guy and he recomended DR 10 HI-Beams. i thought ok. it was like 2 dollars more then what i was going for but i bought them. so i brought them home. it took me abouut 45 mins to change the strings. i just got my guitar setup so the last strings on my guitar were 9s. i had to change the spring tension. but my springs wouldnt hold the bridge enough so that the strings would be tuned and the bridge would be straight. so i just gave up. i cant bring them back because i lost the reciept and the strings are already on the guitar. i hate these strings. so hard to bend and the tone just sucks. and he said they are better then Ernies. so what should i do. and if i get new strings what should i get. hybrids for supers?

no where i know of would ever let you return strings that have already been put on a guitar regardless if you had the receipt or not.

just cut your losses and buy another pack. it's what $12 at the most.

I've always liked DR strings. But, I usually use the Dean Markley Blue Steels.

Re: Oh my god i hate the people at Guitar Center.

When I worked in the biz, when people asked which strings they should get, I always told them D'addarios because they were the cheapest strings we had. It was incredibly rare for anyone to not like and even if they didn't at least they didn't feel like we were trying to sell them something just to make more money.

Re: Oh my god i hate the people at Guitar Center.

so what should i go with then. im probably just gonna go back and buy more strings and restring the whole thing. i m gonna buy ernies but would hyrbrids be better for a brighter Low e sound. i have a BRMR so the pickups are bassier. im thinking either supers, hybrids or regulars. what would be best??

Re: Oh my god i hate the people at Guitar Center.

If YOU can't set it up you had no business asking for a different guage. And here you're blaming GC [which who cares, everybody does] for giving you exactly what you asked for, instead of blaming yourself for your limited technical abilities?
