Phantom power - RFX Patchmate to ADA FC1 - anyone know anyth

The Rolls website says to supply phantom power from the Patchmate to connect the ground to pin 1 and 9V to pin 3. *First of all, how do you orient the pins to know which is 1 or 7?
The other question is which pin is phantom power on the ADA FC1? *Since ADA is no longer in existance, how do I get tech info on the unit?
Will it be as simple as bridging a wire from the power input at the jack to the pin assembly for both units?

I believe you're actually talking about the RP93 - which is the PatchWORK, not a PatchMATE... (correct me if I'm wrong...)

First, the Patchwork is ALREADY wired for Phantom power. *You don't have to change anything on it. *The catch is, it's wired for 5-pin phantom power. *As you said, *ground is Pin 1, 9v is Pin 3.

On your MIDI cable, if you look at the connector you should see little numbers embossed beside the pins. *You'll need a bright light and a good pair of eyes to see them on most cables, tho.

If you're using a 7-pin MIDI cable, the RFX unit is going to ignore the two outside pins (that is, if you can even plug it in...) so you'll need to re-associate the numbers. *They correspond thus:

7-pin MIDI * * - * * 5-pin Midi
* *Pin 1 * * * * * * * * * *XXX
* *Pin 2 * * * * * * * * * Pin 1
* *Pin 3 * * * * * * * * * Pin 2
* *Pin 4 * * * * * * * * * Pin 3
* *Pin 5 * * * * * * * * * Pin 4
* *Pin 6 * * * * * * * * * Pin 5
* *Pin 7 * * * * * * * * * *XXX

The RFX unit (and manual) refer to a 5-pin cable.

What you can do, since your MIDI FC isn't already wired for phantom power is to take the wires from the DC jack and connect them to the MIDI connector - the positive wire will go on the middle pin (3) and the ground will go to whichever is labelled as pin 1.

I'm not at all sure about the ADA FC, since I don't own any ADA stuff, but it could already be wired for 7-pin phantom power. *If so, you can swap the wires from where they are to the pins which correspond to 1 and 3 on a 5-pin cable, or you can get a converter from ROLLS which takes care of everything for you.

I'm currently using the Patchwork and a DMC Ground Control, and both work using 5-pin phantom power...

Phantom power - RFX Patchmate to ADA FC1

For anyone who comes across this post, here's some info for ya.
Rocktron has a cable on their website to convert from 5 to 7 pin phantom power for $24.
I'm all over it, and I'll certainly post if it fries anything.
