Please give me help of my swirling!!!

Hello guys, I am planning to swirl my guitar neck, and all I have are 4 tubes of normal artist oil paint. I have a can of mineral spirit, which I will use as the thinner.
If I dilute this to a good portion then will I be able to swirl like others do? or is there no single chance of doing with normal oil paint? I saw someone making success out of artist oil paint, but are there any advices for me?
Thank you
