Question about 2k clear coat.

For those who have used Eastwood 2k clear, how long do you wait between coats?

And do you mist the first coat or regular spray?

Re: Question about 2k clear coat.

If it's a 2k clear - you should mist the first coat - wait 5 minutes - then put on a nice even medium coat. I wait 20 - 30 minutes between coats. I usually will do no more than a mist plus three medium coats in 1 day.

Day 2 I will sometimes cut and buff, others I will hit with a red scotch pad, and do the same as above again.

Hope this helps...

Re: Question about 2k clear coat.

Thanks it does. It is a canned clear so the thing is only good for about 24 hours after you hit the catalyst activator button. ( and really only usable for 12-13 hours if some reviews are accurate). Going to have to get started early in the morning.

Re: Question about 2k clear coat.

If you got the Spraymax 2K, you only need to let it flash for about 10-15 mins in between coats.

I've used it a few times and had great results doing one light coat first, letting it flash for 15 mins, and then doing wet coats after that with 15 mins flash time in between.

As long as you save about 1/2 can you can still use it for 24 hours or so, but I wouldn't count on 48 like the can says. This way you can wet sand after 24 hours and then do a few final coats if you want to go that route. I usually just shoot it all in one day and wetsand later though...
