Question about tuning up a half step

Hi,

I have an original 87 RG550 with original Edge trem system, it is tuned to Eb (down a half step.) I love the setup on this guitar, and would like to retune it to standard tuning, but don't want to mess with the great setup. Can anyone give advice on how to retune to standard tuning, but keep the action, etc, the same?

Thanks,

RB

Re: Question about tuning up a half step

You're not going to mess with the action. You're just tuning a half step up. You'll not be raising the posts. At most, you'll just need to adjust the trem angle by turning out the trem claw screws a bit to compensate for the tension.

Re: Question about tuning up a half step

Not a big deal,

Focus on the tremelo when tuning up.
If the trem comes up you will have to adjust the spring tension.
See it as a balancing act.
if the strings are getting more tension, the springs need more tension.(in order to keep the trem level).
Start with half a turn of the screws on the springclaw (clockwise) and go from there.
Go in small steps and you'll be fine. adjust-tune-adjust-tune,etc.

Have fun!
