Re-finishing idea for my RG7620 what do you think???

As some know i am re-finishing my rg7620,and it's gonna have a lurvly veneer top once i'm finished,this pic is p'shopped,but the guitar is 55% stripped now,so hopefully sometime after xmas i'll finish my project,and it'll be the last project for awhile :-( I was hopefull to get a Jem body so i could do a GMC swirl :-(

Covering a nice figured top with an ugly pickguard always seems like a shame to me.

Ditto on that. PLease don't do the pickguard. But how will a swirl look over a figured top? Can you do a translucent/transparent swirl ?
