removing tone control from circuit?

I don't ever use my tone control on my guitar much, and I've been wondering if I should just remove it entirely from the guitar. Doesn't that bring back some high end since there's less resistance? Any other benefits from doing this? OR, should I be safe and keep it wired in just in case I do decide to start using it/need it?

Just clip off the resistor, that's soldered to the back of it. Simple as that! This is something I've done to alot of my guitars, and it does give a bit of a brighter tone. Just remember though, that this isn't always a good thing! If it turns out that you don't like it, it's easy enough to fix- Just solder it back on.

This was once called the Eddie Van Halen mod. He Doesnt use the tone control on any of his guitars, I beleive his wolfgangs currently have two volume knobs in them , even though the second one says tone. Anyways it will brighten up your sound, and on some pickups thats a BAD thing, but i fyou never use it this could help with your stage show, as I will sometimes bumb into my tone knob when Im flailin away and it will be down on six or seven. But to each his own I guess.
