Repairing top horn on rg1527 body

Hi guys. I'm new here so hope it's in the right place! Just bought an RG1527 body with some damage. Initially it was just cosmetic damage, some gaffer tape marks, scratches, bad rebinding job and some paint imperfections. When it arrived, the top horn was snapped! Held on by the paint job. I've been refunded and allowed to keep the body, but just wondering how to repair it. The guy said to use titebond glue and clamp it. It has snapped along the grain. Any suggestions? I also wanted a slight arch top to this body, which I could probably achieve with a veneer sanded down to the body on the sides... Thoughts? Thanks!

Drill for dowels to hold it with glue--stronger bond.

Sorry dude, I'm completely new to guitar building... Could you elaborate? Dowel size, placement, how it should fit together? Sorry in advance and thank you!

It doesn't matter the size, but I'd recommend a larger diameter for the job. Place it in the center. It fits together as it came off. I'd highly recommend using a Google search for basic woodworking.

Would you recommend breaking the horn off (it's pretty much held on by the top paintwork) and then insert the dowels before putting it back together? It's late and my brain's not exactly running at it's best. Haha.

It's pretty much a good idea to put the dowels in before attaching.

Yeah obviously, lol. Didn't know if completely removing the horn would cause more damage. Guess it won't make any difference though thinking about it.

definitely, but carefully remove the horn......you don't want to lose any bits. If you post detailed pics of both pieces we'll be able to help you a lot more.

BTW if any small bits fall out when you separate the horn, keep them on hand. You may need them when you re-assemble.
