replicating DBK finish

I'm trying to refinish my guitar in that type of finish. Is there anyway to do it?

Thank You

I'd like to know too. Maybe I'll do my Uni with that finish and chrome out the neck.

I think this has been asked over at project guitar.com and they may even have a tutorial too lazy to look though

The easiest way I can figure (and rumour as to how it was done) is to splatter an undercoat of paint on the body, allowing it to dry in bumpy "bubbles". Just splatter the body, dip a brush in paint and shake it toward the body. The bigger the bumps, the more dramatic the effect. Make sure the bumps dry! You then spray the black (or any color) over the bumps. Since there is no clear coat, you won't need to buff it, which would crush/crack the bubbles underneath. I hope this helps.

Cheers,
Butch

Blobs of thick paint have a tendency to shrivel up and look pretty crappy when they dry. Possibly something like the "popcorn" you'd shoot on a ceiling would look similar, but would also probably be "bumpier". I don't think there is a clear cut answer, just guesses leaving you plenty of experimenting to do.

I think truck bed liner in a spray can is the way to go. Ive been experimenting with it on a few bodies. I think the dbk is glossier, but the bodies ive been using it on will need clear anyways. I don't think project guitar has a tutorial, yet.

Great pic.

I am about to refinish a custom jem and I would like to know where to get those stickers, and if you clear coat on top of them?

Its vinyl used for signs. I got it off ebay 20 bux for a big roll.

I have cleared over it and it works fine. The guitar in the pic does not have clear on it yet. I would severly suggest checking out the project guitar tutorials.
