Restringing Help

This is probably a really stupid question, but I recently purchased an Ibanez RG 920. I was changing the strings and the G string snapped from the bridge, and now a little piece of string is now stuck under the string holder block. I tried to put another string on, and it wouldn't stay. I can't seem to get the little piece out. What should I do?

Re: Restringing Help

I would assume you've tried flipping the guitar over and tapping gently, allowing gravity to sort things out?

Do you happen to have a strong magnet (for screw/metal parts retrieval) ?

A picture might help.

Re: Restringing Help

Maybe use a pen knife and scrape it off? That's assuming the piece of string is stuck because of the pressure from the string clamp causing it to stick to the bridge.

Re: Restringing Help

Be careful and gentle no matter what. Leaving it or causing a scratch will lead to more strings breaking at that point.

Re: Restringing Help

If the above shake and gravitate don't work, I can only suggest to disassemble the trem. It isn't too difficult. Don't lose parts, keep everything in the right place when you re-assemble
