RG1550 neck pocket.

I've searched the forums and found only one mention of having a shim on the side of the neck pocket. I hope I did this right.
My 'new' RG1550s neck wasn't quite straight in the neck pocket. I loosened the bolts just a little, pulled the neck so that the strings sat straight and tightened the bolts, just like I read how to.
Thing is; there is a pretty wide gap on the treble side now.
I hope I did this right. I didn't take the neck off, but I folded a business card 'sliver' in half and used a .2mm feeler gauge to really push it in tight where the gap is.
It seems to be holding.
If anyone can tell me if I did this wrong, or some other suggestions on how to do it, or if I'm okay and should just leave it, I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks,
Michelle.

Re: RG1550 neck pocket.

Hi again Michelle. It's Ok to leave it with nothing in the gap. A tight neck pocket is what causes neck joint cracks. If you have good string alignment and good string spacing, then leave the gap alone (unfilled). just keep the neck screws nice and tight. They are more than enough to keep the neck in place.

Keep an eye on the neck and gap as your weather changes to warmer temps and humidities go up. the gap may shrink some if you keep windows open during the day.

Thanks Fanatic, I'll pull the paper out of there then. I was just concerned that it could shift back but I guess that concern was unfounded.
Thanks again!
Micchy.
