RG2550 Pickguard

Evening all, hope you are all well.

I want to replace the pickguard on my RG2550E 2006 model, struggling to find anything in the UK labelled as fitting this model.

Question is a simple one, is it the same as anything else, for example will an RG550 pickguard fit?

If not i may have to have one made, but that is going to be expensive.

Thanks in advance

Re: RG2550 Pickguard

IIRC, a 550 guard will work on a 2550, but not the other way around. The cutout for the trem route is slightly wider on the 550 guard (Edge equipped) than it is on the 2550 guard Edge Pro equipped).

something like this should work for you......

Re: RG2550 Pickguard

Thank you, just the answer I was looking for, I will order one and see how it turns out. I guess we are talking millimetres in difference so not that noticeable.

Correct, the difference is very minimal. Looking forward to seeing what you get.

The millimeters of difference actually can be a big issue if the screw holes are off slightly. On those eBay guards, it all depends on what guard they copied to make it.

Yeah....this is true. My '00 550 had a double set of screw holes in it. The original owner must have used an aftermarket guard on it at one time or another.

That is a concern, i will order one from fleabay if it does not line up they can have it back and i will have to get a custom one made. I am going for black polished look, all black no white lines, i just don't like the smoked on the guitar, it bugs me to death.

Not sure if the have places like this in the UK, but in the US where you send your guard and they exactly copy it in whatever material you want.

Yes they do, but i don't want to be without the axe while they do it, and they are expensive, fleabay first see what comes up.

Re: RG2550 Pickguard

As other members have stated it is worth note that the screw holes may not line up.

I have had a few issues in this matter (not a big problem but a problem none the less). And that has been with changing Ibanez to Ibanez.

A couple of mill can also effect the trem if offsets the position of the guard. Again It can be sorted easy enough.

The only custom guards I bought were from a guy in New York who sells on ebay (tommyplays I think is his selling name).

Hands don the best quality guard I have for finish & durability. Cost about 32 quid all in at the time - didn't get caught at customs (lucky that time I suppose).

Just my thoughts if that helps.

Re: RG2550 Pickguard

I'm looking to switch my RG2550 pickguard out as well...now that Jeanie PG's is no longer in business I'm 1) Curious who else to go to for custom pickguards, and 2) wondering if the RG550's screw holes will line up without mods.
