RG550 action problem
I just got a good deal on a used '91 RG550. The action on it was high, so after I bought it I brought it home for a setup and new strings. The problem I'm running into is that I have the bridge lowered all the way and the action is still over 2mm on the high E string at the 14th fret (i typically like mine about 1.5mm). I've adjusted the truss rod and have been playing around with the angle of bridge...no matter what I do i can't seem to get the action as low as i'd like it. The guitar looks to be all original, i don't see any mods. Do i need to shim the neck? If so, what would be the best way? If not a shim what else could I do?
