RG550 Maple Neck

I have a maple neck which is looking a bit like this:

It's actually looking a bit yellowish, and I'm wondering whether varnish remover (citrustrip) make it a bit brighter. I want to try to get the maple looking new, any ideas? Will appreciate any answer thanks .
