RG550 Scalloped Neck Repair

Hey Guys,

I bought a very used and abused black 550 over a year ago in hopes to fix it and repair it. One problem I ran into was the neck was scalloped but done unprofessional. I was wondering if anyone on here or if anyone knew of someone that could fix up the errors in the scalloping and clear coat it to seal the wood (it was extremely dirty, fixed that with a bit of elbow grease and fine sanding though).

Any help would be great!

How bad is the job. You probably can scallop it better yourself. All you need is a file and some guts. Lacquering, any can spray lacquer will do although i would recommend matt finish. Just spray about 3 dust coats and 5 wet coats will get you a thick and nice coating.

The job isn't really that bad but uneven between the frets. I have considered trying it myself but was thinking I'd ask if there was someone of more experience haha.

Pics?
Are you wanting to reverse the scallop or just even it out?

I'll see if I can snag some pics of it.

I just want to even it out.

Evening out isnt that hard. Get some masking tape, tape at the side as a marker on both sides, get a half round file, and start filing away. Smooth out later with higher grit sand paper and eventually lacquering.
