routing a flush tremolo

if a trem is flush mounted, could you route some of the body so you could pull up and not have to recess the tremolo

No. If you won't want to recess the trem then the only way to get more pull up range is to raise the bridge up which in turn means you need to change the angle of the neck. There needs to space behind the trem one way or another.Even then, pull up range will be constrained by the distance between the front of the trem block and spring cavity so be sure to check that.
