S 520EX Broken Headstock

I broke the headstock on my s520ex and consequently I need a new neck. What options do I have in terms of maybe upgrading to a prestige neck or do I need to stick with the same wizard II?

Also anyone know any good websites where I can find a neck for sale? I'd hate to have to buy a whole new guitar!

EvilBay is your best bet. Stick to regular Wizard II if you don't want to fill and redrill the neck mounting holes.

Is it not fixable? Some titebond and some clamps can work wonders.

Post some pics so we can assess the damage and see if it's fixable.

I fix them in my shop all the time man... These days headstock breaks are rarely the end of a neck. Just ask Gibson...lol

Re: S 520EX Broken Headstock

Thanks for the help guys. I'm pretty sure it's not fixable but here are some pics just in case.

Some pieces chipped off...

Luckily I changed the strings right before this happened so it's still got some playing life in it.

From the looks of it, believe it or not, it's fixable. As long as you have a good glue and clamps, some sand paper to finish it, you're golden.

You can fix that. Or at least a competent luthier. Its the splintered breaks that cause problems.

I'm with the other two guys man...that's fixable. We'd glue it and pin it. (pinning would be running maple dowels to strengthen it as well once it was glued up. Not huge thick ones or nothin', we like our fixes to still be attractive...lol )

Re: S 520EX Broken Headstock

It's worth a shot at fixing. Good wood glue and clamps are cheaper than a neck, and have other uses. If it doesn't work, you can replace the neck, which you were already thinking of doing.

Re: S 520EX Broken Headstock

Totally fixable. Actually, because it i very ridged I think it will actually be pretty easy.

Remember to use something like folded cardboard to protect the fret board from clamp damage.
