Sanded it down, WHAT NEXT?

I have been searching the forum all morning and still need help. I've got a Gibson Explorer that has been sanded down to bare wood. I need to paint this thing just a plain white and clear coat it. I don't know what kind of paint to use, and I don't know if I need to seal the wood, or primer it?
I found a guy who has a pro spray gun, and he paints the outside of computer boxes and other metal things. He said he'd paint it if I got the right paint, but I don't know what kind to get. Can anyone give me some advice???

you'll have to use either sanding sealer or grain filler first, then prime it, then paint, then seal

tons of tutorials and ****eloads of info on the forum here:

That is a very cool website. Thank you. I see that a lot of the big dogs from this forum frequent that forum as well.
