Scale size question

I have an RG470 body but I believe its from the 2001 range and that it was an extended body model.
Now when its extended range is the body a longer length from bridge to neck pocket or is it just the frets that are all increased in distance.

So, would lets say a 25.5" neck fit onto the body?

The far right guitar.

Re: Scale size question

Hey Milo....yes, the only difference between yours and a standard scale 470 is the neck....
A standard scale 25.5" neck will work perfectly on your guitar.... although I'm sure your intonation will be off..... you'll need to adjust that.

Re: Scale size question

Since the 470XL is a 27" inch scale guitar, the location of the bridge and neck pocket is "pushed back" while the zero fret (nut) is extended away from the body by another inch.
To answer your question, i'm sure you can fit a 25.5" neck on that body after reworking the body to accommodate the neck

Re: Scale size question

Complicated/much work? I have a spare 470xl body and a 3pc neck with bubinga stripe
I'm 95% sure is from an RG550

Re: Scale size question

You're probably better off getting a neck made for that body or find a regular RG body for that neck
