Scratchy volume pot sound

I seem to have some major scratching sounds when I turn the volume knob. Ideas? Is it the possible grounding mess on the back of the pot perhaps? Should I just try re soldering it?

There are like 9 wires that need to go on that little spot on the back of the pot. Does it matter how they are put on there or anything like that?

Thanks

Replace it.

Are the 8 wires on the lugs or just the back of the pot?

I used this diagram
http://www.dimarzio.com//media/diagrams/C.pdf

So they're soldered to the back of the pot, but its kinda messy.

I've also read it could be dust in the pot and needs to be blown out, but since I just got the body used and it came with the pots I dont know theyre history.

Re: Scratchy volume pot sound

You could probably spend $5 on a can of deox to try to clean it and it may fix it, or spend $5 on a new pot and know it will fix it.
