Re: Screwhole repair please help!!!!!!!

Step one: dip toothpick in wood glue.

Step two: stick toothpick in hole.

Yep see how many toothpicks seem to fit tight. Then coat them with glue and push them in. You can use a wood chisel, utility knife, razor, etc. to remove what is left protruding from the hole. Let it dry over night and you can screw the claw back in.

Great advice guys. It IS that easy, however I would suggest sinking the screw in as much as possible before the glue dries and let that sit overnight. This way the glue/wood will dry in perfect fitting threads instead of breaking the glue to create new threads

Re: Screwhole repair please help!!!!!!!

Don't fill the hole entirely, by the way. You still want to leave space for the screw to actually go in. One or two toothpicks should be perfectly fine to make the hole snug without making it too tight to fit a screw in.

Good point, depending on the size of the hole. Use common sense here, it doesn't need to be packed tight. Leave enough room for the screw to get in there.

Nice...I was going to suggest that because that's how I do it. Works very well.

Re: Screwhole repair please help!!!!!!!

Fingernail file the toothpick into fine shavings and mix with the glue. Use this along with non sawdusted toothpicks. It will hold tighter when you mix the sawdust with the glue.
