sharp pullups

so after spending 2 hours filing and sanding away wood, paint and metal i finally got these heavy e-gen springs for my edge zero on my rg2550z to fit. took out the zps, so now it's floating properly. all good and well.

trem is level etc etc, posts are locked down blah blah, everything is good but the tuning goes a bit awry with pull ups. i need to push the bar down again to get it back to perfect pitch.

can i just hope that this is because of brand new springs?

Re: sharp pullups

sometimes that's just the nature of pull-ups, although there are many potential problems you need to diagnose. first and foremost, i suggest following these steps: http://www.ibanezrules.com/tech/setup/lockdown.htm

Re: sharp pullups

Usualy if it doesn't return to '0' something is hanging it up, or your springs are inferior or shot. I would test it by replacing all springs and try again.

i sanded away some thick paint build up in the trem cavity as well as some of the metal on the ZPS plate as the springs were catching on those areas, but now i'm 95% sure there's no contact anywhere. can't hear or see anything.

the springs are brand new heavy-gauge e-gen edge zero springs.

Re: sharp pullups

update:

for some god-forsaken reason, the trem block isn't properly fitting into the baseplate; it's screwed in but still wobbles a bit.

edit:

it appears someone at the factory actually broke off the head of one of the 3 screws that attaches the trem block to the baseplate. i can't even remove the 3rd one, it's so tight, not even with a drill.
