Spring Setup For Heavy Strings

I'm going to be setting up my RG for Drop-A with Ernie Ball custom set 12 16 20 42 52 68. Should I pick up some extra trem springs to deal with the thickness? or will the parallel 3 be enough?

Re: Spring Setup For Heavy Strings

3 Parallel would be enough I believe. You may just need to adjust the spring tension and that's all.

Re: Spring Setup For Heavy Strings

I'll second buddroyce; 3 parallel should be fine. You'll probably have to crank the claw down almost all the way, but you should be able to get it. If it's not quite there, going to an arrow config will add a little more tension.

Cool Re: Spring Setup For Heavy Strings

I'd use the arrow setup anyway, the 3 should be fine.

I tried it with the 3 springs and unfortunately it just wasn't enough. I wasn't able to get the right springs so I had to use a lower gauge (10 13 17 42 52 68 ), It was the little ****ers causing the problem.
