Stripped screw hole in neck for Top Lok III, conversion to bolt-through nut??

So I have an RG350DXZ from 2013 with the top-screw Barless Top Lok III nut. I recently ran into a problem where one of the wood screws stripped out the screw hole in the neck from over-tightening the nut. Is it possible to safely drill through the screw holes in the neck to convert it into a bolt-through nut?

Basically I intend to convert it from this:

Much better to fill and redrill the original hole.

Much better using CA and accelerator. Plugging the hole puts the grain in the wrong direction and the CA is much harder than the wood.

If you drill it you have to come back from the back with a special bit for the screw seat.

Oh yeah, drilling those sunken holes are a bear to do nicely(but using the bit form the Kreg Pocket Screw system might give you a fighting chance). Having said that, I would probably get a proper plug and drill/fill the hole. Stewmac sells plug cutters so you can cut a proper plug(with the grain in the right direction) from a scrap of maple. While I have successfully plugged stripped holes in neck heels and used hardwood dowel from Home Depot, I agree that this repair needs to be done right or its not going to last.

Thanks for all the replies guys! Due to this whole lockdown thing, I decided the easiest repair to do would be using CA glue. I live in Canada, and shipping times and costs are pretty big right now, so the CA will have to do. Thanks again!
