Smile Stud inserts, anchors

Whats the best way to "press fit" stud inserts into a virgin body. I was thinking of getting a long 8mm bolt, threading it into the insert and tapping it in. Will this idea work? There is no way I can press these in by hand.

Thx

Re: Stud inserts, anchors

Your idea should work fine. In the past, I've actually just threaded a trem stud in part way (maybe a third of the way down), placed a small piece of wood on top and tapped lightly on the wood with a hammer. It's never required all that much force and it really shouldn't.

An excellent plan, for those of us fortunate enough to have access to decent tools. Which I wasn't the last time I had to worry about stud inserts. That being said, I doubt anyone's going to invest in a drill press if they just need to install a couple of inserts.

Exactly, I don't have access to a drill press, but I do have a hammer

It's a well-known fact that a hammer, wielded extremely carefully, can perform 99% of the tasks that a drill press (or virtually any other tool) was designed for.
