Hey I'm not confident enough in my ability to produce a good enough swirl....and there's NOBODY I've found that does it, who can I pay to do this?

My recommendation would be Al from O.O.T.S. Some of the best swirls and a great, friendly service to boot. Depends what your taste in swirls are though, for me Al's really tickle my fancy.

Re: Swirling Is An Art (Tutorial)

I have had decent luck with 1 Shot paints and borax. Of course each color may or may not need reducer, and you do need to add harderner to all colors. What I like about the 1 Shot is that if you dont like the result you can wipe down with thinner right away, and be ready to swirl again in an hour. I have only had one guitar clear coated and the colors really came alive. One issue with the 1 Shot is drying time. You really want to give it at least a week before spraying clear. btw: the RoadStar is being redone and with a clear pickguard(not a fan of the current look)...small scale bass with broken headstock was lent to me for practice, and the owner decided he liked that swirl enough to plan on getting it cleared and rebuilding it.

Awesome info all. I'm going to attempt my 1st swirl on my old RG. In regards to paint though, are you using enamel or acrylic model paint? Same goes to the guy who said about automotive paint 2pac, acrylic or enamel? Also if you could give us more info on the clear after coat it would be much appreciated.
Cheers Daniel

Excellent post!! Quick question, when thinning the paint, how much thinner should I use, is there any measurement like one thinner portion per 2 portions of paint or something like that? What's your process when thinning paints? Thanks man!
