Touching Up Pickup Logos?

Hi All,

Have acquired some great vintage '80s Ibanez guitars recently. One of them is a beautiful Purple Neon RG 570. My question: the pickup logos (V2, V1) are a bit faded -- has anyone tried to touch up the pickup logos with some sort of white paint/custom solution?

This really isn't a deal breaker and I'd be fine with leaving as is. But just wondering if anyone has had a similar predicament and, if so, what they've done...

P.S. You can see a quick video of the guitar here:

Re: Touching Up Pickup Logos?

I'd leave them as-is, unless you really want the guitar to look new, and being 24 years old I'm thinking it has some wear.
When I got my 1990 RG550CMM I thought about trying to get it looking new again, then decided against it.
It's a well worn, often played (by the looks of it) guitar and I think it looks fantastic showing its age.
Funny, I never thought about this; but my guitar (and yours) are only a year 'newer' than I am.

I don't know anyone that's ever done it. You would need something like an ink stamp, a silk screen, or a stencil made to do this right. I think any of those would be cost prohibitive. I've thought about doing it for some of my IBZusaF and C series pickups, but can't justify the cost for each different stamp.

Re: Touching Up Pickup Logos?

If having the logo is important to you, find pickups on ebay with the logo intact. Buy them and sell yours. I wouldn't attempt it touching up the ones you have...i think it would be very difficult to pull of and have it look right.
