I just got a RG1570 and Im new to theese floating trems and i was wondering if these were the correct angles http://www.jemsite.com/tech/img/t_trang1.jpg
because ive been tuning my guitar and my trem seems to be around that height but the ibanez book says it should be parrallel to the body ie flat. Also after i tune i can feel heaps of tension on my trem like its stiff kinda is that how its supposed to be???
Hey, usually the trem should be parrallel, some people prefer it on a little bit of an angle, not me though. I also own a 1570L (Lefty) It will most likely be annoying trying to get the trem to be flat and in tune for the first time doing it, but you can leave it on an angle f you wish, makes it so you can pull up a tiny bit more. Is it a brand new guitar? If so then the tension is probably from the strings in the back not being stretched yet. Or you say your new to the floats, so you might just not be used to the whole thing yet. Either way, it should get better with some use.
would anything happen to the guitar if the trem is in a bad angle for a long period of time?? And so is it ok to leave it at the height like the picture that was posted with the guitar stuffing up?
The knife edges are the part of the tremolo (bridge) that actually comes in contact with the posts. What i do for reference is look at the outside of the bridge. You should see a little rectangle where the knife edge is inserted. Make THAT parallel to the body.
