Trem arm tension

Bought a RG1550 Prestige with an Edge Pro. Trem works great except the arm swings too freely. I like the tensions set so that I can release the bar and it will stay where it is left. Tried replacing the teflon washers-( I call 'em bushings) and tightening the screw at the base of the arm receptacle (on the underside of the trem base) with no success. Any suggestions?

Re: Trem arm tension

Trem arm mod worked for me, mate.. I just bought a Schaller Trem arm with the install socket, and put it in.. It did take a LITTLE bit of filing on the threads of the baseplate and I had to cut off some of that "cup" (don't know what it's called ) that goes under the baseplate on schallers, but when I got it in, I was a happy camper. And now my flutters are better than ever on ibanez.. Almost as good as ofr.. almost. I think it's the mass and material of the ofr that makes it flutter so good.

Re: Trem arm tension

I recently installed a Schaller arm in a couple of gotoh trems I have. Much better to be able to adjust the arm tension with a quick twist of the nut. Sometimes I like the arm to swing free and others times I like it to stay put. It's also a lot easier to remove when putting the guitar in a case.
