Trem Bar Problem

I recently purchased a JEM7VSBL. Great guitar and am enjoying it. Problem is the trem bar hits the volume knob when moving it down. It bumps the top. Ive been looking for an adjustment in the tech section, but don't see any.

Any Ideas?

Thanks

You keep the bar under your fingertips or something?!

bar

With no pressure on Trem...just moving it out of way, it hits the vol. knob.

Either the trem angle is way to positive

http://www.ibanezrules.com/tech/setup/angle.htm

or it's way too sunk in the body [possibly in attempt to get uber low action]

Maybe the bar is just bent? I saw a few like that at a guitar center.

Is it freakin straight or somethin? I'm having a hard time believing it is that bent. Is this your first floating trem guitar?

Bent?

Doesn't appear to be bent. The Knob seems to have a high profile. With some slight adjustment I was able to get it to just barely clear the Knob. Wonder what normal clearance is? I have a a strat with floating trem.

Thinking about putting on lower profile knobs. Wonder if knobs on 7vsbl are different then 7vwh?

Yup. The strat style knobs are lower than metal dome knobs. I bought low profile dome knobs from allparts for my strat-style guitar because the bar would hit the push/pull knob when it was up. But they only make them in standard colors. Those knobs with the abalone or pearloid looking caps are shorter, and they have cosmo. I know the VSBL isn't cosmo, but it might match up better than chrome. They have some blue pearloid style caps that might look good. Otherwise get the strat ones.

My advice would be to get us pictures as i have a hard time beleiving the trem is at the proper angle, or height. I can hit the volume knob at mine at a certain angle, but thats when i push it down. Im willing to bet your trem is tilted too far forward, or the knob isnt on right
