Re: trem setter installation

Allparts sell them. That's where I bought mine.

They're fairly easy to install. Here's the instructions that come with it:

http://www.hipshotproducts.com/downl...structions.pdf

In section 3 it tells you how to drill the clearance hole for the shaft, but I REALLY recommend you use a longer drill-bit than stated. I've seen 14" long drill-bits that would be perfect.
This unit can dramatically improve tuning stability. You can adjust the tension on the unit as much as you like. Mine is set to a fairly high tension so that the trem is quite stiff, but the trade-off is that if I bend any string 2-5 half-steps all the other strings stay in tune while bending.
All in all it's a great unit but I'm about to remove mine and install a Tremol-No when they get released. It seems you can't have the 2 units installed at the same time. I've looked into it and the only units I've found that can be simultaneously installed with the Tremol-No are the ESP Arming Adjuster and the Rockinger Black Box mi2tom mentioned above.
Anyway, I hope this helps!

Re: trem setter installation

The hipshot tremsetter isn't bad, but I find it to be a bit of a pain to setup. I still swear by the ESP Arming Adjusters in my guitars.

(if you're interested in the Arming Adjuster, let me know as I'm getting rid of some of mine to get some cash flow since I quit my job)

Re: trem setter installation

On the ESP Arming Adjuster and the Ibanez Backstop can you still pull up on the tremolo or what?

Re: trem setter installation

Yes you can, but you can set it up so it almost doesn't.

Re: trem setter installation

If you want to disable your trem, block it, if you don't leave it; That's what I think, if it ain't broke dont fix it
