tuning keys with tremolo lock nut question

Would locking tuners on a guitar save you time re-stringing it and would it be safe on a tremolo equiped guitar? In other words, is it easier to change your strings on locking tuners than on normal tuners? Do you just put in your string with tension, lock it, tune it, and you're done? Thanks in advance for any responses.

Though I haven't done it myself, I have thought about it doing it also and I think it would save a lot of time. The only disadvatage would be if you broke a string you would have to change it rather than unwinding a bit from the post and reinserting in the bridge. But not everyone likes to do that anyway.

Any time saving will be minimal and you can achieve the same effect by stringing with the ball ends at the tunning peggs.
Thread the string with the ball end, pull it as much as you can, cut it and lock it in the bridge.

Also most people when stringing a guitar with locking tunners will put a few windings anyway so all in all I don't think you can save any time - just prevent strings from slipping on a non-locking nut guitar.
