Used Dimarzios Worth ?

Gday

I am finally pulling apart a beat up J Custom RG Paint 2, which after talking to a luthier reckons it can be fixed for more money then I care to spend.

So Im parting it out and selling off the parts.

I got a guy interested in the x2 Blue Paf Pros, and x1 single blue Jem Dimarzio.

Went to ebay to see what the going rate was for an 80's Paf pro and for some reason there arnt many for sale and the ones are, seem to be really high and labeled Vintage.

All 3 have the word Dimarzio on them also.

Are they already considered Vintage? are they more Valuable.

Any idea what I should be selling them to him for ?

Cheers !!

Re: Used Dimarzios Worth ?

Not vintage, not even close. Still blue DiMarzio's has been difficult to find, especially used. Value? Concider the currency (unless he's from Australia), and make sure you get what you want. If I was looking for a set like that, I would be happy to pay $100-150 for all three. I do not think anyone in the US would pay that much, but as the US$ is low, it's not at all a bad price for me. Could even go higher... No definite answer, and maybe not much help. They look good though...

Re: Used Dimarzios Worth ?

The guy is in Australia, and I guess you need to understand that Dimarzios are way more expensive to buy new in Australia then in the USA. So my price will reflect that also.

So this guy in the USA is selling one Paf pro for $140 USD

Whats the deal with that item 140570289081

Are you saying all 3 pickups are worth $120 ? I think more like $60 each at the very least..

anyways thanks for your thoughts

Re: Used Dimarzios Worth ?

They are possible to buy for US$50 new (eBay), the only difference would be the color. That said, if I were to buy a new set like that in Norway, I would have to pay closer to $400 (still not blue!). Which is also one of the reasons many import instead of buying locally.

Squeeze all the money you can out of the guy, as long as you are prepared to pay the same if you ever need them back.

Re: Used Dimarzios Worth ?

I've bought a couple of used DiMarzios in Australia, and they've been about $60. A green PAF Pro from an old Jem, and a zebra Tone Zone.

$60 per humbucker I think is fair enough here in Australia, probably $50 for the single.

Have you tried using the feature which allows you to search for finished auctions? That usually gives a better indication of the ebay market value than the asking price.
