uv777pbk low B intonation trouble

Hmmm, low B saddle is as far as possible and reached its max on the lo prob edge, but still not there yet. Anyone else has that problem. Fretting an E on the fifth is clearly off compared to open low E

I would've tried changing the low B string. It might be that you got a 'dead' one. Have happened to me more than once.

Good answer.

If a new string doesn't help, check to see that your stud and anchor haven't become loose in the body. If it has, it will lean toward the headstock leaving you less room for intonation and probably cause tuning instability.

If I'm reading this correctly, you're saying the intonation is off starting on the fifth fret? That seems awfully low on the neck. Typically, if the open string is tuned dead on the B, the pitches will be on closer to the open, and stray sharp or flat progressively the further away you get from the open. If it's truly off on the fifth fret, there's a problem.

Re: uv777pbk low B intonation trouble

indeed, I just noticed that when I was quickly tuning by ear fretting on the fifth. So first I thought I made a mistake while using my tuner, but apparently not. So indeed already on the fifth, really early as you mention.

Sharp or flat? And to confirm, use a tuner. Have the open B dead on, then play the B string on the fifth fret and see what it says.

Did you change the string? Are other strings affected, or is it just the low-B?

Re: uv777pbk low B intonation trouble

It is sharp on the 5th, and as so on the 12th, but I'm already at the end of the saddle.

It is just the low B. So the posts and mounting are probably fine. saddles for string e to are following the typical 2 stairs pattern. No low B at home, have to order a set.

Re: uv777pbk low B intonation trouble

Can you exactly measure the scale for each string? Then exactly measure the length on 12th fret for each string. Average scale length should be 25.5" (648mm) and at 12th It should be exactly half this value : 324mm.

Maybe the basswood collapsed at the trem inserts and thus gave the posts an angle towards the bridge?
