VDY refinish - I think therefore I amber?
So I'm in the process of refinishing my beaten up old VDY and I've found myself with a bit of a dilemma. I'm going to topcoat it with a Polyurethane clear, which I gather won't amber like the original polyester finish did. SO... my question is, should I attempt to recreate it's unintended 'taxi' yellow with a slight amber tint to the clear? Or should I go for the full neon effect?
I think the latter would look better with the vine inlay (it has that highlighter pen-style greenish tint), but may make it look more like a project guitar and less like a restored original. What are your thoughts?
