Smile Weird metal plate at nut (nut buzz)

Hey Jemsite. I've got this Ibanez RG570 which is really nice. I am the second hand owner of it, and it buzzes at the nut which sounds really annoying. It's almost sitar'ish.

I think the nut maybe has been raised by the owner of the gutiar before, since there's a weird metal plate underneath it, which I've never seen on any of my other double locking guitars. Maybe it's a mod..

I have tried adjusting the bridge, trussrod, pickup height, but nothing really seems to take away the buzz? Could the metal plate under the nut be the problem? And if so, is it possible to remove it by myself??

I've tried to upload photos of it, but jemsite says it "exceeds my quota".. Is it because I'm new here or because I have to resize the pictures?

Its a nut shim. If the nut is buzzing try tightening it down. If it still buzzes you may need a new nut.

Oh okay. I can't spot any screwheads on the nut. It's probably a stupid question, but how do I tighten the nut down?

the two allen head screws on the back of the neck.......... don't over tighten it...... just enough to be solidly snug.

What's hilarious about it? Not everyone have experience with .. guitar "nuts".. Omg that sounds so wrong

But I removed the nut and took out the little metal plate, and now the buzz it gone, and my 570 plays better than ever!
