What do I need for a guitar synth/midi guitar setup?

I have always wanted a synth guitar. So I was thinking about getting the Roland GK-KIT-GT3 for my Charvel or my RG470. Other than the electronics for the guitar what else do I need for a guitar synth setup? I think I heard something about needing a keyboard amplifier. This true?

Thanks!

All you need is the processor, pickup, and midi cable. A keyboard is used as a controller, and not required.

Thanks. The processor just goes into the amp like a normal effect unit i'm guessing?

How about the Behringer FCB1010? Does it do the same thing as the GR20 and would that work with the GT3 pickup?

No--the FCB is just a midi footcontrol board.

Okay, is there anything that will work like the GR-20, but for under $200? I'm a little tight on cash.

Thanks for your help, man!

Not really, unless you score a good used one.

Re: What do I need for a guitar synth/midi guitar setup?

sonuus g2m you can get it for under 100 bucks. It's monophonic so that means you can only play single notes at a time. Not that you'll be doing much chords with these things anyway.

I say don't even bother with these things not even the roland once the novelty wears off youll be looking to sell, but if you decide to jump in go with the graphtec ghost system since that is the best one out there.
