Wiring question for RG1570

I have 3 pickups on the way for my Ibanez RG1570 and was wondering what would be the best way to wire them in.. with the existing 5 way switch...

Neck: Dimarzio PAF Joe
Middle: Dimarzio Air Norton S
Bridge: Dimarzio EVO 2

I was going to follow the existing wiring scheme that is used for the stock pickups.. but not sure if that setup will give me the desired result (i'd still like to be able to get at least 1 or 2 coil taps off the 5 way switch) ...

any suggestions would be great! thanks!

Re: Wiring question for RG1570

Dimarzio has wiring diagrams for pretty much any configuration on their site, just select your pickup and go to installation.

The wiring is going to be pretty much the same as it is now except you will likely have an extra wire from each humbucker.

I just replaced the pickups in my 1570, now is a good time for you to replace the pots, switch and output jack with better quality components if you wish. I got rid of the tone knob and put a Dimarzio 500k for the volume and it is a much smoother control, my switch was a bit noisy as well so I put a different brand in.

Re: Wiring question for RG1570

No problem

Your stock pickups probably have 2 wires each (and a ground).
Dimarzios come with 4 conductors (and a ground).

When you receive your Dimarzios solder the white+black wires together
and ground all the green and bare wires.

Neck PU RED --> 1st pin
Mid PU RED --> 2nd pin
Bridge PU RED --> 3rd pin
4th pin --> Output wire to volume pot (3rd pin)
Nothing on the 5th pin
Neck PU BLACK+WHITE --> 6th pin
7th pin --> to ground
Bridge PU BLACK+WHITE --> 8th pin

Remember to cover the Mid PU's Black+White cables with electrical tape after soldering to avoid any contact with any other part

This way you'll have the same wiring as with your stock PUps:
