27 fret RG / RGA's

... seeing that the only choices [as of writing this post] are either ESP/LTD's (25.5") and Caparison's (24.75") while the only 27-fret Ibanez available is a matte green Xiphos, wouldn't it be great to see these applied into a Prestige RG / RGA format? Not dissing on either companies as i've seen some pretty sweet axes from both... but i'm sure Ibanez can up-it-a-notch
As for specs, I wouldn't mind seeing something like the RG2610E or RG2620Z with 27 frets and angled single coil rail neck pickup while the RGA version would be similar except with a fixed bridge; Gibraltar+ would be the preferred choice. If an RGA isn't quite the "right" style for a 27-fret fixed bridge, i'll be fine with a 27-fret RG with a Tite-end i.e. RG1421...

Re: 27 fret RG / RGA's

I'll put another vote in on this one. I'd suggest something along the lines of an RG565 but again with the 27 frets. I think the reverse headstock vibe of teh 565 goes really will with the idea of an extended fretboard. I'd also like to the the 540PII come back in the SH configuration with 27 frets. that huge reverse body cutaway is just begging for teh27 fret treatment

I agree! I always wanted a 27 fret RG.

I completely agree. Not many companies offer 27 frets guitars, Ibanez could make some $$$$ and many players would become interested in what Ibanez has to offer. Everybody wins I guess

A 565 with 27 frets? So I'm not the only one with Hamer Californians on my mind....

I'd love to see both the RG and RGA's with 27 frets. However, that would mean you'd also have to put 27 frets on an S series too

That would be pretty awesome.

Re: 27 fret RG / RGA's

oh hell yes, if they had a 27 fret rg neckthrough like the edwards ecy-165, i'd buy it!!! i was astounded by the caparisons, but the FR2 and controls turned me off(not to mention price). really want an edwards, but i keep hoping that ibanez will produce a better offering(hopefully with lo-pro edge). they may as well, they screwed the pooch with a 7 string xiphos with no trem and the only 27 fretter is a xiphos. basically leaving the core rg/s customers to say WTF?

I agree. I've been a loyal Ibanez customer for years and purchased my first ESP guitar (Kiko Loureiro model) a few weeks ago. I would have preferred to purchase a model like this from Ibanez but as many here have noted, an equivalent product offering is not available. I'm currently looking at a Caparison Horus because I'm interested in trying a 24.75" scale neck with 27 frets. That will be at least 2 guitar sales Ibanez has missed out on but I'm hoping Ibanez will offer something similar soon.

Caparison's are really nice with the 24.75 but they have been making ones in 25.5 as well. I love my TAT Special with 27 frets and 25.5 (not to mention the lovely feel of ebony on the neck )

Jack: I saw a youtube vid of a trans-black TAT special... wow! was definitely sold on the middle position feature plus its a 27 fret neck through.
However, at @$3k [or roughly 2x of a Horus]... it's not quite within reach among many players, including me :P
