The Back Stop!

Any ideas why Ibanez discontinued the Back Stop?

And does anyone think there is enough of a demand for this kind of device to be released again? I see used ones selling on e-Bay for around $200 occasionally. There's the Tremol-No, plus the Arming Adjuster from ESP which are both easily available, but I would really like to see the Back Stop make a comeback.

Re: The Back Stop!

me too, of course. about why they discontinued it, i've got a theory: i think the most players didn't quite get how to set it up, and those who could, they didn't like the stiffer arm, as the Backstop is setup. so most of the players un-set it out or even detached the darn thing from the guitar. so... why keeping spending money to produce something that no one would ever use? also, it might had the guys at the factory loosing time and having headaches trying to set it up. cut times, cut moneys, and voilà: let's get rid of the Backstop.

this may easily be totally wrong, of course, but i think i'm not that far from the truth
