End The Jem / UV Lines !!!
I think it's about time that the Jem & UV series were wound up for good (and have done for some time).
A signature model is all very well and there have been a number of breathtaking models in the past, especially in the Jem line, but they've simply gone on for far too long.
The Jems in particular were outrageous, in your face 'you know you want one' guitars throughout the '80s & early '90s....but they've just been dire looking ever since.
In fairness, Steve Vai's general appearence and image seem to have gone the same way, much more reserved and 'normal' looking than in the David Lee Roth & Whitesnake days (or is that the idea....dumb down the production models to match the star?)
Sadly, with the exception of the vastly overpriced limited edition models, all you've really released in the last 20+ years is a succesion of boring looking 'guess we ought to add another colour to the series' class of Jem...with the Jem FP2, Jem 505 & Jem 70 being nothing more than a joke in my opinion.
Whatever happened to the in your face, outlandish colours that the Jem was famous for?
Sadly i had to sell my collection of older Jems a year or so ago....i came back to Jemsite to see if things had changed / improved / gone back to the good old days........sadly not!!
Not criticising the quality in any way, i hasten to add, but i feel something has got lost along the way with these series of guitars.
For everybody's sake, just pull the plug on them and let us lot remember how outrageously good they used to be !!!
