Seems pretty cool to me, though I'm not a fan of the shape. DiMarzio D-Activators as well, reverse headstock and reverse inlays...seems pretty cool to me!

I want one. Period. Sharktooth inlays on a production 7 string, and it's not strat shaped!

I think they look pretty slick. I'd love to play one.

Typical. Loads of people whine on about a Xiphos 7, and when it comes to the crunch they complain like hell about it. "It hasn't got my name custom inlayed on the fretboard, what were you thinking Ibanez". Jeez.

It's a new 7 string (which can only be a good thing), it looks cool, it has good specs. It will be priced well. I dig it!

If I like it I'll buy it, now I just have to try it out.

I'm looking for a backup 7 anyway.

Re: Mr Hosono, Xiphos 7 is looking like it could make some money..

it's sexy and looks like it's got good quality **** all over it. Plus a neckthrough, i mean, neckthrough for christs sake, that is just awesome in itself.

So people, if you whinge, then it dissapears. Plus, remember how much people want a rg2027? and how few there are? well, guess what, don't buy this, and you'll be paying through your nose 4 years down the line.

Oh, sorry, forgot, this is the internet, where fantasy dictates that guitar companies should make guitars tailor made to individuals all the time...

Personally, this is a cool as a snowmans nuts production 7 string.

I heard something about a possible XPT707 with a trem. Any truth to this? I don't want to lay my cashola down for a fixed bridge then have a tremmed Xiphos pop up a month down the road.

Re: Mr Hosono, Xiphos 7 is looking like it could make some money..

I think it's actually really good that they've done this, a lot of people have been asking for fixed bridge 7 strings, and a lot of people who play 7's in general like to use different tunings where a floating bridge might hinder them. Because of my UV I really don't want another trem guitar.

Honestly from what I've read I would prefer Seymour Duncan Blackouts but I think the guitar looks good and if it plays as well as a Prestige does for the price I may end up picking one up.

And to voice an opinion on the guitar in question, it's not to my tastes as an instrument I'd buy, I don't really play 7 string and I'm into more traditional shapes, BUt if I was 10 years younger I'd love that guitar, it has cool colour changing paint, a cool "metal" shape, is affordable and has great hardware and electronics.

Re: Mr Hosono, Xiphos 7 is looking like it could make some money..

So, I've talked to some people about the Xiphos, and the response has been positive and negative.

I've talked to two people, both of whom are in Ibanez's target demographic.

1) Because they own guitars in the $1000 price range.

2) Because they listen to a lot of music like Necrophagist, who thus learned of the Xiphos through Muhammed Suicmez.

One of them owns a 1527, the other owning a 6 string Xiphos, so I think they both are kind of what Ibanez is looking for to buy this.

HOWEVER.

Both of them immediately thought it was cool, but both commented on how ugly the bridge is/was.

One mentioned it would look a lot better with a trem (not knowing what an Edge FX was, I told him about it and he said that'd be a better choice).

The other out right mentioned that it should have "that fixed Edge, the one the 8 string RG has".

So I kind of feel bad for Ibanez in a way, because they are giving Ibanez fans what they want, but it seems even the average Joe player (aka, ones who don't post on guitar forums) doesn't seem to like the bridge choice, enough to make them not purchase it.

I hope it looks better in person.

EDIT: And now that I look at it compared to say, the Apex 7, I feel that the bridge is a bit bulky for a fixed bridge.
