New JEM MODEL

Am I alone in thinking it wouldn't be so bad to have a moderately priced JEM model that is somewhere between an RG/555 and a 777?

What specs would you suggest to lower the price?

Re: New JEM MODEL

Buy an RG. The new 3550's and 3570's look nice!

That said, they should make an RG with a scalloped 17-24 fretboard.

Re: New JEM MODEL

Thats what an RG was made for, or you could just get a used one.

Yep, I know.

To the OP: Get a RG550 or something. Or if you want something special a RG770. Those are really nice.

Re: New JEM MODEL

I should definitely rephrase in retrospect here . . . does anybody think they'll re release the 555 in the states? Maybe with Evolutions instead of cheaper Ibanez pickups.

The JEM555 always came with Evo's. And it's a great guitar, especially with the new edge pro II. It's still pricey though. But I love mine!

Re: New JEM MODEL

As a little diversion, be careful what you wish for... I bought one of the burns Brian May guitars and thought they could make a more authentic one for maybe twice the price, well they do now make a more authentic one for 5 times the price!
The problem with the Jem is it's always been a "pro" artist endorsed instrument and the final decision on the range comes down to you know who...
I think everyone agrees the current range of colours needs improving.

"New" edge pro II? Haven't seen one on an Ibanez for years. Even though the 555 is gone this year it's still around with an edge 3 in Aus and I think some EU countries.

Re: New JEM MODEL

Ok here's my take on it, a JEM555 crossed with an RG770 in Desert Yellow (based on what I've read in this thread).

Three takes actually :

Would this please the 555-fans out there?
