3 semitone interval scale?

So i have been learning about diminished scales. Found it really interesting.

I have found something that to ME sounds like it should have a name.

on 1 string play these frets. 1,4,7,10,13,16,19,22.

It sounds very Yngwie Malmsteenish to me. Can anybody tell me what this is? Its killing me not knowing!!

Re: 3 semitone interval scale?

this might be referred to as a diminished arpeggio

Re: 3 semitone interval scale?

you could also do a pattern like:
(low E) 1,4
(A string) 2,5
(D string) 3,6
etc...
and just remember to shift up a fret when you reach the B string

I don't have my guitar in my hands at the moment, but I think this works out to be the same

You are essentially playing F Ab Cb Ebb, which would be a full diminished 7th chord, or played sequentially would be an arpeggio

Re: 3 semitone interval scale?

I see! Its making some sort of sense! I notice that it doesnt seem to reach the same note twice? Is this of some significance? Usually in music (so far for me) everything kind of reaches the same note eventually!

Re: 3 semitone interval scale?

It is actually dividing the octave (12 semi tones) into 4 parts, so since 3 x 4 is 12, it will repeat every octave. So with note names, you will be playing F Ab Cb Ebb, F Ab Cb Ebb... on and on as you go upward
