Arrow Brazilian guitarist Kiko Loureiro joining Megadeth

So the rumors have been confirmed, and it's official now:
http://www.megadeth.com/news/kiko-lo...joins-megadeth

I met Kiko personally a couple times, there's no doubt he's talented, however he's not the kindest guy in the world... so let's see how long this Megadeth lineup will live.

Only Jeff Loomis or the return of Friedman could have saved Megadeth, Jeff would have been perfect. Meh,no longer excited.

Those guys are old. It is ridiculous pretending to be a mad thrasher when you are 50 yrs old and your music genre died some time back in 1992.

Good for him! I was really happy when Broderick finally got the pay day he deserved, and even happier when he branched off to go back to his own thing because Broderick was seriously underutilized in megadave.

I used to be friends with Al Pitrelli and the stories he would tell me about how demandingly insane Mustaine was makes me think this might just work...

Re: Brazilian guitarist Kiko Loureiro joining Megadeth

It will be ok... as long as this Kiko dude likes playing rhythm, as Dave still does the majority of the lead when playing live. The last couple Megadeth albums had solid and well-written songs... not quite up to the Marty years, but I'm looking forward to more from Dave. I didn't think Broderick fit well. Great guitar player with awesome technical ability, just not very musical IMO.

Saw them live opening for Iron Maiden a couple years ago, regardless of what I was smoking. I was shocked at just how much lead Dave played... especially with Broderick right beside him on stage. Chris did the lead on Kingmaker off the new album, but that was the only song they did off Superconductor. All the rest was early Megadeth (where Dave normally did the lead) and the bigger hits with Friedman (Chris did play some of Marty's parts). I'd say that easily Dave played 80-90% of the lead in their hour long set. Certainly did not expect that... Maybe it was very early in the tour? Maybe Dave was just hogging the spotlight? I'm a Megadeth fan from very early on and all that, but I really wanted to see Broderick cut loose, the guy is amazing.

Hey, I remember a friend of mine saying the same... that Dave was playing almost all leads, with Broderick beside him hold the rhythm. For a guitarist like Broderick, it's frustrating, then easy to understand why he left Megadave.
