Can you guess what gear I'm using?

http://www.supload.com/listen?s=1oAfUE

The song was 9 min. long so I have trimmed it down to some interesting parts. The audio file sounds a little trebely to me. If anyone else thinks so I can change the EQ and upload it again.

I am mainly trying to showcase the tone and am looking for both comments about it and guesses as to what gear I may be using.

The rules are that you can't search my old posts to find out what kind of gear I own!

Thanks - Jay

Re: Can you guess what gear I'm using?

Wild guess from my very untrained ears:

A Gibston-style guitar through a small solid state combo amp.

edit: Oh, and kinda heavy-guage strings.

Re: Can you guess what gear I'm using?

Well the Gibson style guitar is close, but only for one reason.

The amp is definitely not solid state

And the Strings are DR 10's.

Any other guesses?

I should add that there were no settings changed during the song other than that of the guitar. If you listen to the dynamics and in-tact presence of the clean tone with respect to how low the guitar volume must be based on the dirty sound it should give you some clue as to the guitar used. It has a pretty unique feature that allows me to do this.

the amp sounds chimey like a a vox ac30?
I thought the guitar might be a Gibson SG, But if it's not a Gibson or Epiphone maybe an ESP LTD EC1000

Re: Can you guess what gear I'm using?

Well, the amp does sound somewhat chimey but it is not EL-34 or EL-84. I don't think chimeyness is something NORMALLY associated with this amp either. To add more clues, the amp is on the clean channel and is being boosted by a magical orange box. This probably adds to the chimeyness.

The guitar bares more similarity to a LP Studio than any other Gibson.

Re: Can you guess what gear I'm using?

Ok, I guess it is time for an explination. The guitar is an Ibanez JS6 into a Mesa express 5:50. The amp is on the clean mode of chanel 1 with the gain at 2 o'clock. The JS6 is coil tapped on the neck p/u with the high pass filter on. I might remove the coil tap before the solo at the end. I cant remember. The boost comes from a BB Preamp with all of the knobs straight up.

So what do you guys think of the tone? I am happy with it so good or bad comments are welcome. I won't be offended. Personally I am suprized at the dynamic range more than anything.

Way too much treble in that tone for my taste. It cuts through too much.

Re: Can you guess what gear I'm using?

The whole audio file ended up with a little too much treble. I am having some problems with my computer and have had to remove my audio editing software so I can't change the EQ very easily.

The field recorder I used was set on top of one of the PA speakers with one mic aimed at my guitar amp and the other out towards the room. I didn't expect the sound to come out anywhere as balanced as it did.

The oddest thing is how well the drums came through. They were on the other side of the stage behind a semi dividing wall AND behind a Plexiglas drum cage.
