Dream Theater Overture.... this should be fun!

Today, I thought to myself: Hey, you never do any dream theater songs, why not? Then I remembered: Because I don't have any control over my pick and my left hand . I mean, I've been practising a little since 2 weeks with the metronome but still (haven't done that in almost 5 years)... Dream Theater is really tough! Especially if you wanna play it good, which I do . I decided to fight through Overture 1928 from "Scenes from a Memory". Anyone else tried this song?

I like this one, my band plays a keyboardless version of it. Sometimes it's still kind of tough to pick this riff:

E|--7-0-----7-0-----------0--- etc

Nice melodic solos too.

Haven't tried that one yet, just got DT's full score anthology book so I'm working my way through that
Must get the SFAM tab too though, love that album. The dvd kicks ass

I still think the the descending run played at the beginning of the song is tough, you know, that one where they play like 3 or 4 sextuplets. I'm getting it though. I definitly recommend guitar pro for learning something with an usual rythym like that. Its helped me out a ton.

And that last chord progression is heavenly right after Rudess plays the triplets on the keyboard using his awesome string ensemble patch!
