Re: Favorite Guitarists'

I feel like a freak (ok...a bigger freak than usual). I'm really not into metal or shred guitarists as influences. I like listening to the stuff, but it's not at all reflected stylistically in my playing or any of he projects I'm involved in.

I love listening to Vai, Satriani, Zakk, Nuno, etc. but that's where it ends. That style of playing has never done anything for me for some reason.

My top 5 actual influences in terms of style would probably be:
-Lindsey Buckingham
-S.R.V.
-Clapton
-Slash
-Santana

Damnit, forgot to mention Mr. Johnson. (Really, I'm not pulling anyone's leg)

Does this mean I can talk to you Tom?

Re: Favorite Guitarists'

Here are my top 10 (in no order)

1. Chuck Shuldiner (Death)- Visionary player, great solos!
2. Dimebag Darrel (Pantera)
3. Pat Metheny
4. Davide Tiso (Ephel Duath)- Refreshing approach to jazz metal guitar
5. John Mclaughlin
6. Frank Zappa
7. Psy Coma (The Kovenant)- Not blindlingly impressive, but he writes kick ass solos and riffs, basically gets the job done, which i like in a player.
8. Bobby Koelbe (Death)- The best 'second guitarist' of Deaths history
9. Mikael Akerfeldt+Peter Lindgren(Opeth)
10. Pin (SikTh)- Very inventive player, and an all round great guy
