Feb Jemsite guitar challenge feeler...

Anyone have suggestions for a Feb backing track? Lets hear 'em! I got a new toy for recording and I'm anxious to try it out this month.

So what do you guys want to do this month? Speed metal? Elevator music? Something with an accordion?

I'm not sure if fwd0120 is going to do the track for Feb or if he wants me to fill in, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to start looking into it since we are well into February now.

I'm up for some soft blues, as I'm planning on using a single coil guitar this time around.

Re: Feb Jemsite guitar challenge feeler...

I'd be up for something bluesy too. Would be nice to find something besides a straight 12 bar I-IV-V... but I'm game for anything! If I get some time tomorrow I'll scan through guitarbackingtrack.com and youtube... but feel free to post any good ones you guys find.

Lots of blues backing tracks in here, but quality is hit and miss:

Love this one... anyone besides me know this old song?

That's an old ZZ Top tune isn't it?

I would love to work on something this weekend, and this sounds like a good track to go with if you want to set it up.

Yep... Blue Jean Blues, one of my favorites since I was a little kid playing my dad's records. It was on "Fandango"... "I done ran into my baby... and finally found my old blue jeans. I could tell they was mine... from the oil and gasoline"... lol. Love the old ZZ Top.

I like the track, but all I can hear is Billy Gibbons licks... might not be a good track to use. Would be nice to pick one out, though I still haven't heard from fwd0120, the guy that normally does these challenges. I'll try to find some more slow bluesy ones if I can.

I've been jonesing for a track to work on... so I redid an old 1961 guitar instrumental called "Apache" for my mom and dad last night to pass the time and get used to my new pedal. Cold/snowy weather coming this weekend too, perfect for playing guitar!

How about this one in Am? Bluesy, but has some interesting changes. I thought it didn't sound good on my laptop, until I put headphones on.

Kind of a medium tempo... but a good sounding track.

Can we do a modal one next? I love Lydian personally.

E Lydian is pretty self explanatory...

Post up some links... lots of Lydian stuff on youtube. As I said, I am up for anything... and I'm no better in one than another. Maybe more comfortable in a bluesy track, but I don't mind being out of my comfort zone and learning something different either.

Thats a pretty cool one... E Lydian is the B Maj scale patterns?

So what does everyone think? Lydian or blues?

I still haven't heard back from Frank yet... but I don't think he'd mind if we went ahead and picked one for Feb.

Re: Feb Jemsite guitar challenge feeler...

I'd LOVE to do some blues. Although I play rock/blues texas/blues all the time, I'd like something to push my boundaries a bit... like a jazzy blues number with some chord progressions I don't normally work with.

Here's a few I found:

I was jamming along with the E Lydian and it started to sound familiar... and I realized that we had just done an E Lydian one in November. Shows how good my memory is... lol. So maybe we should stick with the blues thing and go modal next month. Besides, Feb is a short month and we are halfway through it already. That second link, the Eb major one, is kind of cool.

It's a challenge dammit! You should be pushed outside your Lydian comfort zone ;-)
