Forgotten guitar hero.

I thought i would bring out a few cd's that i havent heard in some time so I pulled out White Lions Big Game. I think it had been over ten years since I last played that disc. I'll tell you it's been a long time since I have heard Vitto Bratta play and my God he has some awesome tone and melody. This is one guy that deserved more attention and spotlight in my opinion and right when White Lion was at there best Grunge came in and killed everyone. I wish guys like this were still around, the latest news that heard about Vitto was that he gave guitar for good. When I finished listening to the disc I pulled out Extreme Pornograffiti and just wanted to slap myself silly. Just curious have any of you lately pulled out a cd that you haven't listened to early 90's and just sat there and just immersed yourself in all the tones, the passion, and the fury that Nuno,Bratta, Skolnick, Lynch all had. Tell me what you all think I would love to read about it.

Re: Forgotten guitar hero.

It's nice to pull out the old stuff like the old VH albums, some Poison maybe etc. Brings everything back to a simpler time .

Re: Forgotten guitar hero.

I agree. Over the last few months, I've loaded so much old stuff on my mp3 player that I listen to during my train to work. I have WhiteLion, VH, Poison in there. I can't find my slip of the tongue CD so I can't rip the tracks though. Old Dokken as well. I tend to prefer that type of music to today's stuff. Don't know why.

Re: Forgotten guitar hero.

Every once in a while I pull out my late 80s to early 90s vinyls... including White Lion (though I didn´t really like Bratta´s tone really... didn´t he also use those butt ugly Steinberger guitars then or am I completely mistaken?), Whitesnakes "Slip of the tongue", the first Mr. Big album... Riverdogs, VH stuff... and at one fell swoop I´m sixteen again

On a sidenote, I´m still wondering if I may ever find one woman who is worthy of being thought about when listening to Lynch Mob´s "She´s Evil But She´s Mine"!!!

Re: Forgotten guitar hero.

I can't really say that 'I'm going back to the old times', because most of the music I listen to is before I was born. I've been listening to a lot of Yes and Journey lately, and of course, the masterpiece that is 5150.

Re: Forgotten guitar hero.

For me, the same goes for Carlos Cavazo from Quiet Riot. Not that I think Quiet Riot are any good but man, Carlos for an 80's metal guy isn't technically up there nor is he fast but his melody, structure, feel and phrasing are just awesome.

I was watching his starlicks video where at the start, he does an solo with a backing track. He is playing in F (box pattern 17th fret), I could clearly see each note like it was in slow motion. What I found weird was despite the simple playing, it sounds so complex. Definately a guitar genius.

Re: Forgotten guitar hero.

It's funny... when i read the title "forgotten guitar hero", the first name that came to mind before i opened the first message was "Vito Bratta". I'm sure it's been covered here before, but he did pretty much drop off the face of the earth.

Didn't stop playing guitar completely?

Re: Forgotten guitar hero.

I thought Vito had some injury or something that caused him to stop. But yeah - PRIDE was my fave. I have a bootleg of the Ritz show from that tour, and would love a DVD, but you never know how good those are. Mike Tramp actually sells 2 shows on DVD (the Ritz one was transferred fromVHS), that I was thinking of getting, but for $25 I want to be sure it's a good copy.

As for Journey, I think the 1981 Houston show is due out on Tuesday...

Re: Forgotten guitar hero.

A friend saw him several months ago, and he supposedly told him that he's only playing classical, "hates rock music", and wants nothing to do with the music industry.

I didn't hear any of this with my own two ears, so take it for what it's worth...

Well Nuno is on his way back into the scene, with his new band Population 1, but now I think they changed their name to Dramagods ~ Weird

Very strange, the population1 website is down as well.

Nuno is fantastic - Pornograffitti and 3 Sides are great albums

80's & 90's music is definitely better than todays stuff

As somebody said earlier 5150 is a masterpiece.

We need some more VH, Nuno and Lynch !!!
